What this is

Four Bars (https://fourbars.app) is a daily word game. This page explains what information the game collects, why, and how you can control it.

Information we collect

If you play without signing in, Four Bars stores your progress (guesses, timer, streak) only in your own browser's local storage. We don't see or collect that information.

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile info (such as your first name) from Google to create your account. We store:

How we use it

We use this information only to run the game: signing you in, saving your streak and stats, and showing the public leaderboard (which shows your chosen display name and score, never your email).

Who can see it

Your display name, score and solve time for a given day may appear on that day's public leaderboard. Your email address is never shown to other players and is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics (Vercel Analytics, and optionally PostHog) to understand aggregate usage of the site, such as how many people play each day. These tools do not receive your email address.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account data for as long as you have an account. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, email us (see Contact below) and we'll remove it.

Cookies and local storage

Four Bars uses your browser's local storage to remember your progress and preferences, and cookies to keep you signed in. These are functional, not advertising, cookies.

Children's privacy

Four Bars is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
